Roof Update

Here are some pictures of the roof on day three of installation.

Don't ask me about the siding color. I'm not in love yet. :-/ Don't want to talk about it. Notice how the roof and the siding look completely different in each picture above? It's all about where the light it ans how it's reflecting. I like the color sometimes and not sometimes. I'm waiting on the door coloring. We're also playing around with shutter options for the front, but the windows aren't customary, so I'm not sure if we really have shutter-able windows. Ugh.

So Many Decisions...

The roof started today. I still can't say I'm in love. I need to see the whole she-bang in the sun, not just a piece of it in the clouds... It's quite bright right now. It looks white from afar. It will look better with age, I know. It's a galvanized metal roof. Reflection central when it's new!

We had to choose appliances tonight. Here is what we chose. I am all about a bottom freezer.

We finalized our cabinet plans tonight. Made one change in the kitchen that I will explain further in a post later in the week.

We pick our granite slabs on Friday. I have a vision... I hope to find "it" at the slab yard, in my budget.

Be honest. Leave me comments and tell me what you think of the roof and the siding!!!

Siding is Complete

The siding is installed!!!

It took six full days, sun-up to sun-down. The crew of guys was three deep. I'm not sure if more guys would have made it any faster. The measuring and time involved in applying siding seemed quite daunting. Remember that our siding isn't just horizontal all the way around, we actually have three types of siding that surround our home. Maybe that is what took so much time? Who knows.

Here are some pictures of the completed siding:

METAL GALVANIZED ROOF BEGINS TOMORROW! Cross your fingers the weather stays dry and they get started. I'm not declaring to love or hate the siding until I see it with the roof.

Siding and HVAC Rough-In

HVAC Rough-In was installed Tuesday and Wednesday. HVAC is complete. The walls/roofline of my house now look like this:

Siding installation started Tuesday. What they thought was going to take them two days to install is now on track to be four to five days. Siding should be complete by Saturday. We have normal siding planks, board and batten, and siding planks installed on a diagonal. You'll notice what I mean in these pictures. The siding is more cream colored than tan. DON'T use the "y" word. It's cream'ish tan. K? I need to visualize it with the galvanized tin before I say I'm in love. Here is what the siding has looked like as it has progressed this week:
That is board and batten. It is vertical planks of siding.
Front main windows are board and batten.
Side view of front main windows.
Horizontal siding planks on side and around fireplace. Board and batten in dormer. Diagonal planks at window.
Better view of all types of siding. You'll understand the purpose when it's all done.
Like it? Color okay?

Madalynn's Bedding

Okay, okay... I couldn't pass up a couple Labor Day sales.

Stocked up on bedding for MMB at the Labor Day Sale + an extra 30% off bedding at Pottery Barn Kids.

The walls of her room will be a light, dusty purple - per her request. The chandelier from her nursery will hang in her new room. This bedding I thought would compliment the purple, and also bring in the white and pink from her chandelier. Her furniture is white, except her night table is a coral/pink color.

I don't want her room to scream purple. I don't want her room to scream pink. I want it to scream young lady. I am hoping this all works together when we get settled in the house. In my mind it all makes sense, but when the bedding comes in I will throw it against the purple paint and make sure. A pale yellow may work better than the purple, but we'll give the purple a go.

Whatcha think?

Kitchen Runner

Just ordered a wool rug runner for my kitchen. The rug runs 2.5'x10'. I found a deal I couldn't pass up. I have been looking for a runner because the shape of the kitchen either needed a runner to run between the wall of cabinets and the island or one smaller rug at the sink. The floors of the kitchen are wood. I think this runner will break up the wood and be the perfect size for the kitchen.

Fingers crossed. Purchasing online is risky.

Here is what the rug I just ordered looks like... pay attention to pattern, as this picture is not the correct size/shape of what I ordered.
So now my kitchen has wood floors, white cabinetry, stainless appliances, a painted gray island, granite counter tops (that I still have yet to pick), and this rug. I'm thinking coral or turquoise accents. Which do you think would look better?!
